Artist Statement
Lisa Braid is an artist who lives and works in Vienna, Austria. A rural upbringing and the experience of the flickering pull of television had a large influence on her visual language. Using oil paint she explores the tension between dynamic movement and stillness. Within her work, Braid reflects themes of growth and uncertainty as well as the shifting dynamics of relationships and emotions. At times, she enriches her paintings with materials and forms associated with memory and temporality, such as house dust, fireplace ash, andeggshells.
